Froghall is a village situated approximately ten miles to the east of Stoke-on-Trent and two miles north of Cheadle in Staffordshire, England. We were there to ride on the Churnet Valley Railway steam train, which was a great experience. The area is a fascinating explore, the only regret we had was not being able to stop longer and do more exploring. All photos taken using mobile phone camera.
We recently went to spend an afternoon with friends and ended up going for a long walk around Crawshallbooth, Rossendale. Here are a few photos taken during our walk.
Above is the tower, which was the top of the underground chimney flue from former Sunnyside Printworks, 1839.
The ruins of Harrock Hill windmill can be taken in as part of a great circular walk.The structure was used for milling corn in its day.
The windmill is mentioned as far back as 1660
“Capital messuage and tenement with appurtenances in Wrightington called Harrock Hall; windmill in Wrightington called Harrock mill, with a kiln adjoining, and all toll, soken and mulcture; messuage in tenure of Richard Ashton, 24s.” – Papers of the Rigbye family of Harrock Hall, Wrightington (The National Archives).
So if you’re a keen walker, and interested in local history, I’d highly recommend paying it a visit.

We Popped to Flamborough head on the way back from Bridlington. It was late evening and the sun was setting, which made for a great atmosphere. Here is a selection of photos from our brief, but memorable visit. Well worth checking out if you’re in the area.
