Step 1 – I always like to start with the brows as they really frame the face. I start with the Sleek Brow Pencil in the colour light before adding more definition with the Illamasqua Brow Cake in Thunder towards the end of the brow. I then apply a Mac Paintpot in the colour Soft Ochre all over the lid and under the brow to give a subtle highlight.

Step 2 – I applied a matte skin colour shade all over the eyelid and then a matte brown shade through the crease. The key to this look is to blend, blend, blend!

Step 3 – Using black gel eye liner I lined the upper lash line and extended it into a flick. I then applied a pair of Katy Perry lashes and mascara.

Step 4 – Moving onto the base I used the Mac Prep + Prime Radiance Primer and then followed with a foundation and a lighter concealer under the eyes. I chose to mix Nars Sheer Glow and Mac Studio Sculpt. I set this using Mac Mineralised Skin Finish Natural in Light and the yellow cc powder under the eyes to counteract the purple tones under the eyes.

Step 5 – I contoured the face with Mac Sculpting powders and the applied a blusher to the apples of the cheeks.

Step 6 – I mixed the two Illamasqua lipsticks in Minx and Rosepout and applied them to the lips.

Sun Kissed Holiday Makeup Tutorial

bronze summer makeup look tutorial

Quick and easy steps for a sun kissed holiday look By Hannah-Sophie Boulton. You can find more about hannah here

Step 1: Prep the skin with clinique superbalance moisturiser, then Mac Fix plus spray, and finally Maybelline baby skin; this will leave your face fresh, hydrated and ready for makeup application.

Step 2: Start your makeup look by applying Mac face and body foundation. This foundation is perfect for holidays as it is thin consistence, therefore it can be worn as a thin layer for that little coverage you may need, and also very buildable for a night time look. Apply this all over the face and work into the neck area using a real techniques ‘expert face’ brush.

Step 3: Leave the foundation to sink into the skin

Step 4: Next, take Mac sculpting powder and a contouring brush, (I’m using the real techniques contour brush). Apply this into your desired contour areas which compliment your face shape e.g. under the cheek bone, temples, forehead and nose.

Step 5: From the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette, I’m using ‘Half baked’ as a highlight, and applying this with a angled face brush on the cheekbones, down the centre of the nose, and just above the cupids bow.

Step 6: From the Urban decay Naked 2 Palette, take ‘half baked’ and apply all over the lid (you can also spray a little of Mac fix plus onto the brush to intensify the pigments of the eyeshadow) I’m then using a Mac 217 brush to blend all of that in to give a soft look and eliminate any harsh lines from the eyeshadow.

Step 7: From the Urbay Decay Naked, take ‘buck’ and apply into the crease of the eyes socket to add depth to your look. Im using a real technique ‘crease’ brush so that it is evenly spread and blending.

Step 8: The Next step is optional. Personally I don’t like to wear mascara on holiday during the day in case I go swimming, but in case you do, apply a thin layer of waterproof mascara to the lashes, to makeup your eyes stand out.

step 9: Finally, to finish off this sun kissed look, I am using Mac ‘Hug me’ lipstick, to give a nude lip, then taking a small amount of Mac ‘Vanilla’ pigment, and  working this into the lipstick to give it a small golden glow.

You should now be left with a dewy, golden summer look, which is perfect for when you don’t want to bother with too much makeup, but still want that beautiful bronzed glow! to make this more of night time look, you could apply false lashes and liquid eyeliner with a feline flick to dramatise the eyes.

What you will need!

  • Green face paint
  • Purple face paint
  • White/Grey face paint
  • Black face paint
  • Red face paint or cream
  • Four different size brushes from small to large.

Step by Step Guide

  1. Make sure all the hair is pushed back and secure with a hair band or a bobble
  1. Using the purple face paint, apply to the cheeks, middle of the forehead, down the middle of the nose and the chin area
  1. Apply paint to the eye brows, scruffy them up. Add strokes upwards making the prolonged and hairy looking
  1. Fill in the smile lines using the black paint then softly smudge out using your finger
  1. Using the small brush add lines to the face using black face paint, gently apply the paint to were natural lines would form as the skin ages, scrunch the face too were the lines are in need be
  1. Using the eye brows as a starting edge (closest to the nose) draw to triangles, face each other but not on line giving the illusion that the nose is wonky. To make the eye look more hood from the same point drawn a triangle over the eye lid for depth and definition, repeat on both eye.
  1. With faint lines follow most of the black thin lines with the white/grey very lightly to add highlight to the face paint making it look more like life and real
